Happy Anniversary To Us!

I wanted to let you all know that today was our one year anniversary! I am such a lucky girl to have an amazing, supportive and loving husband. He really is outstanding. He puts up with my long hours, random meetings and all of the craziness and chaos that is my life. One year later and I still feel the same as I did on our wedding day. Just seeing the photos reminds of how special our wedding really was. I am filled with lots of warm fuzzies today! Big props to our fab photographer, Amanda Williams.

Oh, and if you haven’t yet, get some dinner at The Melting Pot! We went to the one in Ann Arbor, on Main Street, and it was fabulous! I HIGHLY recommend it. Romantic and delicious!

Life is good…

With so many negative things going on these days, I thought it might brighten things up to think about some of the wonderful things I get to experience each day. I am surrounded by family and friends that I love dearly. I have an amazing husband and we are celebrating our one-year anniversary on the January 25th! I can’t believe it has already been a year. Time really does fly when you are having fun.

I always keep myself busy, but I am pretty sure my brain would implode if I stopped. Besides, why would I stop doing something I loved so much? I have wonderful clients and get to work with some of the most fabulous people I could have ever imagined. Through the last few years, thanks to my job, I have met some really great people who I now like to call friends. How can you have a bad day when you are constantly surrounded by happy and so-in-love couples and professionals who have an amazing passion for what they do?

When a client calls me and says that they want to share their special day with me, I am honestly excited! Not because of the potential business, but because I genuinely love what I do. All of the hard work, the blood, the sweat and the tears are paid of greatly when I see the newlyweds after they take that walk back down the aisle towards me. Don’t get me wrong, life is filled with very long days! Some days I don’t get a chance to see my husband at all. Some days I get so frustrated I can’t see straight! Sometimes I wake up at 5am and don’t get to bed until after 4am, or days that I can’t fall asleep because I am thinking of items on my to-do list. The light always comes when a couple can finally take a deep breath and say “This is exactly what we wanted!” or “Things couldn’t have been any better!”. I love the smile on a bride’s face when she sees that all of the hard work (and money!) has really paid off, or when she can finally say “We have a videographer!”. After all, the little things matter, too. Let’s not forget the look on a groom’s face when he sees that his bride’s dreams really came true.  It is all amazing and the hard work and long days always pay off. I think the key to success is this business is to not let your inhibitions hold you back, thoroughly enjoy every second of what you do and always remember that you will get whatever you put into it. I couldn’t be happier than I am today!

This time of year always has me thinking about all that I have gone through and wondering what is coming next. I am really looking forward to so many events in the coming months. This year is going to be amazing and I am ready for any twists that the road may throw my way. I am looking forward to meeting new people, getting to know my new clients, seeing old friends and family and taking Bliss Weddings (my baby!) as far as I can. The networking group, MWEP,  that I started late last year is really taking off, too! We are having our second official meeting next month and it is sure to be a great one. I am excited every day when I see a new email asking to get involved.

I think I have covered it all, and I am glad I started this personal blog to share it all! Thanks for spending your time reading this. 🙂

101 in 1,001!

I have to admit, I have been wanting to create my own 101 in 1,001 list for a long time. Earlier today, I saw that the fabulous Jess from Mod 4 had created and posted her own list. It was all the motivation I needed to finally start my own! In the process of creating a list, I thought I might as well start a personal blog to give you all a little insight into my life, personality and the stories I have to share. 🙂 You can see my list here or by clicking the link at the top of this page.
The Mission:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).

Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past – frequently simple goals such as New Year’s resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities. Some common goal setting tips:
1. Be decisive. Know exactly what you want, why you want it, and how you plan to achieve it.

2. Stay Focussed. Any goal requires sustained focus from beginning to end. Constantly evaluate your progress.

3. Welcome Failure. Frequently, very little is learned from a venture that did not experience failure in some form. Failure presents the opportunity to learn and makes the success more worthy.

4. Write down your goals. It clarifies your thinking and reinforces your commitment.

5. Keep your goals in sight. Review them frequently, and ensure that they are always at the forefront of your thinking.
